Physical Education is taught to all pupils, up to and including the Sixth Form, where it can be taken as an A Level subject.

Sport provides the opportunity for physical development and teamwork, and is regarded as an integral part of education at King’s, since it not only develops individual talents and social skills but also provides relaxation from the demanding academic programme.

Many of the Preparatory and Senior School pupils who regularly represent the School in competitive fixtures also play for the county.

The main sport for boys in the Michaelmas Term is rugby, while hockey and cricket are the principal games in the Lent and Midsummer Terms respectively. The main sports for girls in the Michaelmas and Lent Terms are netball and hockey, followed by rounders in the Midsummer Term. In the Michaelmas term, some soccer is played before half-term and it is also offered as an extra-curricular activity. Athletics take place in the Midsummer Term, and swimming takes place all the year round.
