It is with great sadness that we report the death of Brian Nolan, a long-serving former teacher at King's Rochester
Brian was appointed Head of Art in September 1958, a role he undertook until his retirement in 1995. Brian was an outstanding teacher and during his 37 years dedicated service he was Housemaster of Storrs, Head of Athletics and served in the CCF. Moreover, his artistic talent was used to help with the interior design of School Hall and the design of Davies Court.
In 1983, Brian became an Honorary Member of the Old Roffensian Society and served on its committee as Honorary School Liaison Officer and Honorary Editor for many years.
In retirement, Brian continued to take a great interest in the School, carrying on his sterling work for the Old Roffensian Society. He was the producer and/or editor of many King’s related publications and he was the creator and curator of the Old Roffensian Sports Hall of Fame (now located in the Old Roffensian Room in Satis House) and so much more besides.
It is impossible to sum up Brian's immense contribution to both the School and The Old Roffensian Society but we are thankful for his dedication and service to all in our community over many years.
The School sends condolences to Brian's two sons, both Old Roffensians, their families and his many friends.
Brian's funeral will be held on Monday 17th June at 10.30am in Rochester Cathedral.
