Congratulations to Clive Emson OR (1957-62) who has been awarded an MBE in the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours for "services to Vulnerable and Disadvantaged Young People in Kent”.
The property auctioneer and, past President of the Old Roffensian Society has been nominated for his outstanding work with The Young Lives Foundation, an independent children’s charity dedicated to delivering tailored services to vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people in Kent and Medway. Volunteering since 2002, Clive has been president of the charity since 2014.
On his nomination, Clive said "It was a complete and utter surprise. I've kept the charity work under the radar". "It's not me - it's the organisation. I'm the figurehead but there's a lot of people doing exceptional work behind the scenes. It's wonderful."
Over the years, Clive has assisted many other local charities, raising thousands and continues to do so.
His charity work is in addition to his role as Chairman of one of the largest auctioneering companies in the UK, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
