DETERMINATION TRIUMPHS OVER EXPERIENCE IN WHOLE SCHOOL HOCKEY MATCH

The Annual Sixth Form v Rest of School hockey match was held on Friday 11th May at Holcombe Park. This event, whilst masquerading as a ‘bit of fun’ is, in reality, competitively fought with both sides keen to take the victory.

The Sixth Form selection included 1st and 2nd team regulars from the boys’ and girls’ sides with the effervescent Alice Gilbert keeping goal. In outfield, Saagar Patel showed good running speed, whilst Harry Kemsley demonstrated the art of missing several open goals with great panache.

The Rest of School Team comprised a range of youngsters, including Max Butler and Helena Scott from Remove who stayed strong throughout the match and showed great potential for the future. The Rest of School also had the benefit of wise heads on older bodies in the shape of Jo Westwood, Mr Taylor, Mr White and Mr Goodwin, whose daughters were also on the pitch on opposing sides. Credit goes to Joe Cozens in goal for the Rest of School who managed to keep a few Sixth Form balls from crossing the line.

However, it was the Sixth Form who showed their dominance with a first half goal from Goodwin P, followed two more goals in the second half from Eldred and Butler. This was swiftly followed by a goal from the Rest of School from Goodwin senior, making the final score 3-1 to the Sixth Form.
