The School is situated within the conservation area of historic Rochester, close to both the Norman Castle and Cathedral.
Many of the School buildings are Victorian or Georgian and Grade 1 or II listed.
The listed buildings are complemented by a modern infrastructure, as befits a school at the cutting edge of 21st century education.
Although close to the centre of the town, an atmosphere of seclusion and privacy pervades the campus.
The School enjoys extensive sports facilities, with large playing fields both on the Alps and the Paddock. The two sports halls/gymnasia provide a weight training room, cricket nets, netball and badminton courts. The millennium project saw the completion of a twenty five metre indoor swimming pool. The modern boathouse on the Medway and the shooting range are both within easy reach.
The Nursery Class and The Pre-Preparatory School
Chadlington House is home to the Nursery and Pre-Preparatory School at King’s Rochester; our modern purpose-built building is located on the corner of Lockington Grove and Vines Lane in the picturesque Cathedral city of Rochester.
Two gate accesses to the Pre-Preparatory School are situated on Lockington Grove. Wooden gates situated at the corner with Vines Lane provide access to the Pre-Preparatory School & Nursery playground for pupils and parents at the beginning and end of the School day, and another set of gates further along Lockington Grove provide access to the main School office and reception area. (Please note these gates are shut and locked when School is in session for security, so access should be made via the main wooden Preparatory School gates on King Edward Road.)
The Pre-Preparatory School was set up in 1988 and Pre-Preparatory School moved to their new home at Chadlington House in the Year 2000. Chadlington House provides nine classrooms (with class sizes of no more than 18 children), a library, computer suite, large sports hall, and a safe, enclosed playground. In addition, a separate self-contained nursery area offers a 'work' room, a playroom, a playground, kitchen area, cloakrooms and a study for exclusive use by the Nursery children and staff.
The School enjoys extensive sports facilities, with large playing fields both on the Alps and the Paddock at the centre of the School. The sports hall used by Pre-Preparatory & Nursery pupils, contains a wealth of gymnastic equipment, as well as netball and badminton courts. The millennium project saw the completion of a twenty five metre indoor swimming pool used by our pupils during curriculum time.
