At King’s we strongly believe that a healthy, balanced diet is crucial to a child’s wellbeing, performance and ability to learn. To ensure the highest possible standards, all our catering is done in-house using locally-sourced, high-quality ingredients.
All meals are prepared on site in one of our two modern school kitchens. Our large catering team serves over 550 hot, two - course lunches every day using recipes and cooking methods that reduce the amount of salt, sugar and saturated fats. School lunches are varied and appetising, with a choice of either a hot meat dish, vegetarian main course and a salad option. Our experienced team can cater for all specific dietary requirements, cultural, religious and medical including gluten, lactose and other intolerances. Our fruit and vegetables are delivered from local farms and our meat is locally sourced.
At King's we operate a healthy eating policy which includes the provision of fresh fruit, vegetables and salads each day to encourage children to reach their “five a day”. In addition, yoghurt is also offered daily. Even our "treats" - desserts, biscuits and cakes - are homemade so we can ensure that, in all we produce, only the freshest ingredients are used. We have a 4 week rolling menu that changes each term to incorporate seasonal ingredients.
We have two attractive dining rooms for pupils and each is used by a different age group. Nursery, Pre-Preparatory and Preparatory pupils eat in the modern St Margaret's Dining Room and older pupils in the traditional surroundings of School House.
Our Senior School pupils also have access to Bob Doubles, our cafe/tuck shop. The cafe has recently been refurbished to a high standard and provides hot meals, salads, paninis, snacks and drinks, including fresh bean-to-cup coffee. Parents in all parts of School are very welcome to visit for a drink and a snack between 8.30am and 10.30am and again between 2:00pm and 4.00.pm.
