On Friday 25th September a small group of pupils from King’s were invited by Hadlow College to attend their 'Pip To Plate' event. They learned about commercial apple growing including breeding, grafting, tree training, pest and disease control, harvesting, storage and marketing. The presentations were provided by industry experts including growers, researchers, agronomists and retailers. The event linked current theory topics in science lessons to real life situations as well as giving students a glimpse of the possible career opportunities in commercial horticulture.
Two of our pupils, Lower Fifth Formers, Nicholas and Cameron were interviewed by KMFM for their radio and local TV stations. Cameron's interview can be viewed here. The feature is approximately 3mins 20secs into the bulletin.
