Our Lower Fifth GCSE Drama class embarked upon a Theatre-in-Education Tour this week as part of their end of year performance assessment.
For the brief, the Drama students were asked to devise a 30 minute piece of original theatre on the theme of 'Staying Safe during the Summer'. They then took it to the road to five preparatory schools across Kent and London to perform in front of their Years 4, 5 and 6. Schools visited included, Steephill School at Longfield and Pointers School, Blackheath where the cast performed in a church! The group covered opics susch as internet safety, minimising video games-playing, Global Warming and sun-cream, road safety and starting at a new school.
The tour was a great experience for all the students who performed their devised piece no less than seven times! They also had the opportunity to experience what it is like to part of a touring theatre group - and to see how much fun (but also how tiring!) it can be!
