KING'S PUPILS BREATH NEW LIFE INTO MYTHOLOGICAL CREATURES

KING'S PUPILS BREATH NEW LIFE INTO MYTHOLOGICAL CREATURES

On October 3rd, the U5th GCSE Drama class travelled to Hilden Grange Preparatory School in Tonbridge to perform a piece of theatre-in-education to Year 5 on the theme of 'Creatures.'

The pupils at Hilden Grange had been studying different creatures of myth as part of their English lessons and the King's Drama pupils were invited in to perform some devised work linked to this.

The stories of such mythological creatures as the Loch Ness monster, Medusa and even the Gorynych - a creature from Russian folklore - were told in a comic style to provide a fantastic afternoon's entertainment for the Year 5's. After the performance the King's pupils delivered a workshop where they taught the Year 5 pupils how to use a range of dramatic techniques such as freeze frames, thought tracks and Physical Theatre to create their own Drama on the theme of Creatures.

A great afternoon was had by all and our pupils enjoyed the opportunity to perform in front of a large audience at a new venue.
