Five King's musicians formed part of the award-winning Kent Youth Wind Orchestra at a sell-out concert in Canterbury over the Easter Break. George (Tuba), Owen (Saxophone), Matthew (Percussion), Edward (Trombone) and Rachel (Oboe) attended an intensive 5 day residential course as part of Kent Youth Wind Orchestra. The standard achieved on the repertoire in only 5 days by the young performers was outstanding and culminated in a sell out concert at the superb Collyer Ferguson concert hall in Canterbury. King's fielded the highest number of players within the orchestra and were justly proud of their achievements. George, Owen, Matthew and Rachel are music scholars, and Edward is a Cathedral Chorister. Well done to all!
The Kent Youth Wind Orchestra was formed in 1976 with the aim of providing talented wind, brass and percussion players the opportunity to extend their performance skills at County level. Former players can be seen amongst professional orchestras in the UK and abroad as well as in broadcasting, teaching, lecturing, concert promotion and other music related professions.
