King’s Rochester Nursery has an "outstanding" inspection rating and within  bright, airy, purpose-built accommodation, our specialist staff educate, challenge and stimulate your child and provide a happy and secure first taste of the exciting world of learning. They will quickly settle your child into a carefully-balanced programme of work and play designed to nurture growth and identify unique talents and strengths. They will also help them to develop early social skills and independence as well as making them happy and confident Early Learners.

Our Nursery is open to boys and girls who have reached their 3rd birthday by 1st September in the academic year of entry. It is a school Nursery and operates in term-time. King's Nursery is situated within the walled school grounds of King's, right in the heart of Rochester’s historic old town and only two minutes from the High Street providing a safe, green haven for your little one’s first steps into the world of learning. Nursery children regularly use the beautiful Paddock, (our playing fields which lie adjacent to the Nursery) and enjoy extensive, well-equipped outdoor play areas, quiet and wet-play spaces, state-of-the-art ICT facilities and a well-stocked library. They also enjoy regular trips to the neighbouring Cathedral Orchard for den-building and play in a safe, natural environment. They will also enjoy being part of Pre-Preparatory School life - taking part in whole school events such as Sports Days, and Charity Fundraising Days. They will be challenged to explore, to challenge themselves and to develop their skills in all areas of the curriculum.

A full day in King's Nursery runs from 8.45 am to 3.30 pm and includes a freshly-cooked, hot lunch of high-quality,  locally-sourced produce served in our Dining Room. All Nursery children eat together at their own, family-style table with their teachers.

Since King's is an educational Nursery, children benefit from regular attendance and most children attend a minimum of three full days per week or five  morning sessions. This helps them to prepare for entry into Reception and full-time school in the following September. If possible, we recommend that children are attending for four full days in the Midsummer Term preceding their entry into Reception in the following September.

Six hours of learning and play make up a full day at King's Nursery and include such exciting sessions as Number play, Language and listening activities, German, Music, Computer fun, Science, Craft and Art, Role Play, Outdoor play and Story-time.

Extended days are available from 7.30am to 6.30pm. Please see Before and After School Care for more details.

Nursery children wear a smart, practical uniform consisting of a royal, black and white polo shirt and matching fleece and, in winter, joggers. Shorts are worn in summer.
