Over 40 Senior School pupils at King’s Rochester recently spent their weekend cycling and rowing a magnificent distance of 2188.79 km (further than Rochester to Rome or to John O'Groats and back) to raise money for Team Charlie, the Senior School’s charity this year. Mrs Laura Stoll Womersley, Coordinator of Charities in King’s Senior School said, “it was wonderful to see our students work together for such a good cause and their dedication this weekend was truly moving. They pulled together and encouraged each other to keep going when the going got tough...and it was tough!”
Team Charlie is an ever-growing group of committed people who are working to build a sports complex and to improve general living conditions in two hostels in India. The charity was started by friends in memory of Charlie Booth, who was due to join King’s in the Sixth Form before he tragically passed away in 2013. Donations are still coming in for the team’s fantastic effort but the final figure raised during the row is expected to be well over £1400.
