STUNNING PERFORMANCES STEAL SHOW AT HOUSE MUSIC COMPETITION

On Thursday 18th October, the annual House Music competition was held, the event see each house competing across three musical categories to take home the winners shield. This year’s competition was adjudicated by Mrs Judy Martin and featured an array of spectacular performances from all Senior School pupils.

Whiston triumphed in the House Ensembles with ‘Hello’ from the Book of Mormon by Trey Parker, followed by Crick with Mr Blue Sky by ELO and Storrs with The Saga Begins by Weird Al Yankovich.

In the Solo Items, House won with Christian Blandford’s rendition of Moonlight’ Sonata in C# minor by Beethoven, and second place was jointly shared between Parker with Damian Dimitrov performing ‘Violin Concerto in D Minor, Mov I’by Spohr, and Crick with Temi Lasekan performing ‘Where E’er you Walk’ from Semele by Händel.

The most popular performances of the night came in the House Songs, with stunning renditions of Superstition by Stevie Wonder (Parker), and This is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas (Crick) but Storrs stole the show with a truly exceptional and quite grisly performance of Thriller by Michael Jackson, led by Lewis Bentley. Whiston came second with Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Junior and House came third with a fabulous cover of Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

After much thought from the judges, Whiston won the overall House Music Prize, followed by Storrs in Second, House in Third then Crick and Parker respectively.
