There were smiles all round again at King’s Rochester when pupils collected their GCSE results this morning! And Principal, Jeremy Walker and his staff shared the joy as another increase was recorded in the number of top grades A*, A and B. With almost half of all grades received being A* or A, and just under 70% A* to B, there was, indeed, much to celebrate.
Amongst the top performers were Sophie Guillemot (9 A*s and 2 As), Alex Barnes (7 A*s and 3 As), Rebecca Titmuss (6 A*s and 4 As), Amelia Chambers (6 A*s and 3 As), Cordelia Heath (5 A*s and 4 As), Neve Hinton (4 A*s and 5 As) and George Harrington (4 A*s and 5 As) who deserve particular mention for the hard work which has earned them these top grades.
Mr Walker said, “If proof were needed that young people can achieve amazing things, then we have it this morning at King’s. Sophie joined us from France in Year 9 so has realised these excellent results in her second language. Rebecca is a talented Regional Hockey player, having recently also been awarded her England shirt. Amelia has an outstanding voice and frequently wins top local, regional and national music competitions and George’s exceptional tuba playing has, this year, won him the title of Maidstone Young Musician of the Year. When you consider that these major successes have been achieved alongside their academic work, this is impressive stuff! Such outstanding results show what is possible when hard-working pupils are supported by dedicated staff and parents in a real team effort. We could not be more proud of them – and all our pupils for having done so well today”.
