What People Say About King's . . .
We are always very pleased to hear from King's Parents, past and present:
It was a risk taking our daughter out of Grammar School after her GCSEs, but it was a risk worth taking as she has had the most incredible time at King’s and has met some wonderful people – both pupils and teachers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for all the help and support you have shown her over the past two years. The School has been like a second home to our daughter and I know that she will miss it greatly, but I am sure she will be back to visit very often. We are so proud to say that our daughter attended King’s Rochester – it is truly a wonderful school! (Parent of Upper Sixth leaver).
I can't remember when I have seen smarter or better behaved teenagers - they are so happy and proud to be part of the King's tradition. (School Visitor).
It was such an enjoyable and professional production, it makes me wish I was back at school, but not my old school ... King's School! (Pre-Prep School Parent about Senior School production).
When the Head Master asked our daughter at her interview what is the most important thing about coming to school, her face lit up when he said "being happy" as she had been so miserable and unfulfilled at the Grammar School. Every day since she joined, our daughter has thanked us for sending her to King's - she has immersed herself in the many extra-curricular opportunites; she finds the teachers are so caring, supportive and accessible and she has made some very good friends. (Senior School Parent).
King's really brings out the best in its pupils ... (Prep Parent).
Since joining King's, our son has played so many sports and we were so proud when he was chosen for the U11s cricket first X1. (Prep Parent).
The thing about King's was that the staff always had so much time for you - whether it was German before school, Latin after school, or just a general chat over lunch - there was always someone available to help. I wouldn't be where I am without such incredible staff. (Former Pupil, Jess Elliott, achieved a "double first from Oxford", now pursuing a career as a barrister).
From the outside King's might appear ancient and imposing, but inside it's a modern and friendly place. (Visiting Parent).
The atmosphere is the best thing... you're free to be yourself. (Pupil)
My last school offered mostly new subjects at A Level, but the good universities are mostly looking for traditional ones, so that's why I wanted to come here. (Pupil).
There are high expectations here, and just about everyone meets them because the teachers really care about you and want to see you achieve the most you can. (Pupil)
I had drama coaching from very knowledgeable English teachers. King's gave me exactly the right amount of suport to get where I am today. Yes, it was hard work, but when you're passionate about something, that energy drives you. And as a backdrop, King's has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere - so I never felt stressed apart from during rehearsals for plays! (Former Pupil now pursuing an acting career at Oxford Drama School).
I think the Jazz Band is the jewel in the crown of music at King's. We play everything from Louis Armstrong's Hot Five to the ultra cool sound of John Coltrane. It's great! (Pupil).
Before coming to King's I didn't have any friends that lived in other countries. Now I've got friends who live in Germany, Russia, Hong Kong and Nigeria! (Pupil).
I was able to hit the ground running when I got to university because I was taught in a similar way. But not all of my course peers had been encouraged to learn independently, so some of them struggled to start with. (Former Pupil).
Participating in King's productions was pivotal in my career choice. (Former Pupil now working in the music industry as a Producer, Mixer and Engineer).
