The Chadlington Scholarships
This life-changing opportunity is for boys and girls with academic and personal potential. You do not need to be the finished product, but you will need to embrace the breadth of the King’s experience in and out of the classroom and to have the aspiration, with our support, to apply to the best universities or specialist Higher Education establishments to realise your full potential and your dreams for the future. To be a successful applicant, you will need academic ability, intellectual curiosity and an openness of mind and character. If this is you, we want to meet you.
The Chadlington Scholarships are aimed at boys and girls currently studying at locally maintained non-selective schools and whose personal circumstances may not permit them to extend their studies into the Sixth Form and thereby realise their full potential. As a result, applicants for this Scholarship will be assessed on their academic potential, but also on other talents and against specific criteria, such as whether you are the first generation of your family with the dream of going to university.
What is a Chadlington Scholarship?
As a Chadlington Scholarship holder, you will be joining a vibrant and successful Sixth Form and will be able to enjoy all the academic and co-curricular opportunities on offer here. You will be able to benefit from the outstanding teaching, facilities and excellent pastoral care at King’s – and our staff will support you and help you to grow in confidence every step of the way.
The award has been made possible thanks to the vision, generosity and philanthropy of a successful former pupil, Peter Gummer, now Lord Chadlington of Dean.
The Chadlington Scholarship offers TWO fully-funded (100% of Day Pupil fees) Sixth Form places each year for a two year course of A Level study starting in the Lower Sixth (Year 12) and continuing into the Upper Sixth (Year 13).
Chadlington Scholars will join one of the great, historic schools in the UK (founded in 604AD) and the oldest Cathedral Choir School in the world. A school deemed “excellent in all areas” by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI) in their 2020 inspection and where pupils regularly achieve outstanding results and go on to a wide range of top universities, specialist Colleges and Conservatoires.
