Sport at King's
Resilience, Performance, Ambition.
At King's Rochester we place equal emphasis on excellence and recreation in sport. Sport hones both physical and mental stamina, precision and confidence and develops the team working skills which will be so important to our pupils in later life.
Many of our pupils are top athletes and represent not only the School, but also the county, region or country in their chosen sport. But if you are a beginner, King's has a whole host of teams which you can join to enable all who wish to play sport at all levels. One of our key aims is to support each pupil to make the most of their potential at King's and sport plays an important part in School life from Pre-Prep to Sixth Form. Sports Scholarships are available.
All age groups have space in the timetable for physical education and formal training in selected sports starts in the Preparatory School. In the Senior School pupils have the choice of 17 different sports including rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, tennis, rowing, football, athletics, badminton, swimming and cross country. We have a full fixture list and play matches both in the UK and abroad.
Since taking over and refurbishing the renamed King's Rochester Sports Centre (KRSC), we have been able to extend our already impressive sporting facilities into some of the best in the South East.
As well as extensive sports fields, a cricket pitch and a 25m heated, indoor pool on the town centre site and a purpose-built boathouse on the River Medway a short distance from School, the acquisition of KRSC has added seven new, outdoor Lawn Tennis association (LTA) approved courts, a large gymnasium, a fitness room featuring a new range of Technogym cardiovascular equipment, a physiotherapy suite and modern changing rooms to our offering.
Adjoining KRSC, we also have two national-standard hockey pitches at Holcombe, just five minutes from School.
